For LLB (undergraduate law), you typically need a high school diploma or equivalent with strong academic results. For LLM (master's in law), most programs require a recognized law degree (LLB or JD). For JD programs (US/Canada), a bachelor's in any field plus LSAT scores is required. Some countries require bar exam equivalency assessments for foreign lawyers.

The UK, USA, Canada, and Australia are the most popular for international law students. UK LLM programs (1 year) at universities like Oxford, UCL, and LSE are globally recognized. US JD programs open doors to New York bar admission. Canada offers pathways to practice through the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA).

LSAT is primarily required for JD programs at US and Canadian law schools. UK LLB and LLM programs do not require LSAT — they assess applicants on academic record, personal statement, and references. Australian law schools similarly do not require LSAT. Some US law schools now also accept GRE in lieu of LSAT.

LLM tuition ranges widely. UK LLM programs average GBP 18,000–30,000 for one year. US LLM programs cost USD 40,000–70,000+ per year. Australian LLM programs range from AUD 25,000–45,000 per year. Many institutions offer merit scholarships and bursaries specifically for international law students.
